Bylaws

BYLAWS OF NORTH OKANAGAN YOUTH SOCCER ASSOCIATION

PART 2 - MEMBERSHIP

2.1 The Members of the Society are the applicants for incorporation of the Society, and those persons who subsequently have become Members in accordance with these Bylaws and, in either case, have not ceased to be Members.

2.2 A person may apply to the Directors for membership in the Society and on acceptance by the Directors shall be a Member.

2.3 The Directors shall allow a person to be a Member of the Society upon payment of the membership fees, if required, if:

(a) the person has agreed to act as a Director of the Society, a Program Co-ordinator of the Society or the Registrar of the Society;

(b) the person is a parent or guardian of a child who resides within the boundaries of the Society, who is currently registered, whose application for membership has been validated by the Society’s Registrar for the current season and who is not indebted to the Society;

(c) the person occupies or fulfils a position appointed by the Board of Directors for the Society and does not otherwise qualify under Clause 2.3 (a) or (b); or

(d) the person is an Honorary Member as appointed by the Board of the Society from time to time and on terms and conditions determined by the Board of the Society from time to time.

2.4 Every Member shall uphold the Constitution and comply with these Bylaws.

2.5 The amount of the first annual membership dues, if any, shall be determined by the Directors and after that any annual membership or other dues shall be determined in the sole discretion of the Board of Directors.

2.6 A person shall cease to be a Member of the Society:

(a) by delivering his resignation in writing to the Secretary of the Society or by mailing or delivering it to the address of the Society;

(b) on his death or in the case of a corporation on dissolution;

(c) on being expelled; or

(d) on having been a Member not in good standing for 12 consecutive months.

2.7 A Member may be expelled by a ordinary resolution of the Board at a meeting convened for that express purpose.

2.8 The notice of Board meeting to consider the ordinary resolution for expulsion shall be accompanied by a brief statement of the reason or reasons for the proposed expulsion.

2.9 The person who is the subject of the proposed resolution for expulsion shall be given an opportunity to be heard at the Board meeting before the ordinary resolution is put to a vote.

2.10 All Members are in good standing except a Member who has been placed under suspension by the Society or the BCSA.
